eSATA on P5B Deluxe

I just bought the Antec MX-1 eSATA HDD enclosure (I highly recommend it, btw - awesome product) and noticed during boot that the drive is listed as an IDE device along with my IDE DVD drive on the JMicron controller. I assume this means that the eSATA port on the P5B is managed by the JMicron controller (of course).

My question is, will sharing a controller (apparently in IDE mode) with IDE devices hinder the performance of eSATA drives?

The enclosure came with an eSATA bracket for the back of my PC that I can connect to an internal SATA port, so I could go that route if necessary.

Anybody? Would you guys install the eSATA bracket and connect it to the internal SATA ports (running in SATA RAID mode) or leave it on the mobo's integrated eSATA port and the JMicron controller (currently running in IDE mode for the DVD drive)?

Update: I changed the JMicron controller to AHCI mode. Once I got the drivers installed, everything works fine. However, I'd still like to know if I should expect the same performance from eSATA drives on the JMicron controller in AHCI mode (still need to support an IDE DVD drive) as I would get from using the eSATA bracket to connect them to the internal Intel SATA ports.

Any opinions would be appreciated.
