SBS 2003 R2 WSUS problem

Hey everyone I have a Small Bussiness Server 2003 R2 that has a major headache. Hope someone can help as i am a noob with servers for the most part. Problem is that WSUS is courupt. I have been searching most of the evening looking for a simple fix for this. The only one found was to reinstall the entire R2 technologies disc since WSUS is integrated w/the monitering and reporting, SQL, and other services. question is if I reinstall the R2 disc will I loose all of my sharepoint site data. and also will I loose all of my exchange data? Any other ideas or sugestions? I am about to cry...lol

If you got hit with that little code 'mistake' that MS released last november, then it should have been update automatically. If its truly 'corrupted' then in theory the only option is a re-install since, as you noted, Update Services is tied to almost everything in the OS.

the best approach if the network is complicated is TONS of screenshots of your settings.. its amazing how many stupid little buttons you flick in the course of a day to make things run right.

I am not sure what you mean by corrupt, but you can uninstall WSUS through "Add or Remove Programs." What version of WSUS are you running?

After you uninstall download the WSUS 3.0 and go through the straight forward installation.

Hope this helps!!
