The lower cache is less than a 15% difference in gaming applications. So a further overclock should eliminate that entirely. I wouldn't be surprised to see it hit well over 3.2 Ghz.

Not to mention, the second 8800GT is only ging to run at half speed since SLI sucks.

Proof???
My proof is that my brother in law has an e2180 @ 3.3, and its bottlenecking his stock 8800GTS,
(Proof? 3dMark score are over 2000 higher with my e6750 @ 4ghz.)

And now please.....

Can u explain why?

There are a million factors other than CPU and GPU that can effect the 3dmark score...

Countless OCers have assure me it won't bottleneck.

Ok so basically.
This is what we did, my E6750 @ 3.9 + 3870 @ Stock pull 11k in 3D06
I pop in his 8800GTS at stock and im at 13.5k 3D06....

He usually gets like 9k in 3D06.
the thing is, i didnt compair the overall score,
All i comapired was SMP2 and SMP3. which is the GPU score, it was almost 2000 lower between my PC and his,.... Hence showing that the limiting factor in his PC IS the CPU, especially since, we both have the same RAM, both in RAID0, and both HAD similar Mobo's

You're wrong. An allendale chip won't bottleneck the GPUs.
CPU Charts:
http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_20...=882&chart=424

Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 (Conroe 2.13ghz 4mb L2): 97.3 FPS
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 (Allendale 2.13GHz 2M L2): 92.5 FPS

Clock for clock they are very close... the reason your CPU outperforms your brother in law's (by more than a couple points) is simply you have a higher clock speed. Also synthetic benchmarks do not accurately reflect actual performance...

You are talking out of your ass, of course your going to score higher if your cpu has more cache and a clock at 4 ghz than a cpu clocked only at 3.3ghz.
I don't know what is wrong with your brothers comp but surely he can score higher than 9000 on 3dmark06, i can score 11,000 with a 3.0ghz e2180 and a 8800gs. Also a e2180 overclocked is comparable to a e6xxx the only reason why a e6xxx can beat the e2180 is because it has more cache and that is why the e2180 is the cheaper processor, other than that it is a very powerful processor. If you think the e2180 is a bottleneck, then your processor is a bottleneck also for two 8800gt's

Im usually not rude but ur retarded.....

I didnt compair straight scores, i only compaired GPU scores,

1. My E2180 will be at 3Ghz. Not 2Ghz
2. GPU score is still a bit effected by CPU. Nothing's perfect man.

Although we disagree, thanks for contributing so much here though. When I see u guys argue i read and learn.

Bottleneck is such a loosely used term now....

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/.../t-123831.html If a GTX doesn't scale higher with the CPU at 3.4ghz then I doubt a GT will bottleneck a 3.2ghz e2180. Does it really matter anyway, as long as the games and applications he will be running, run correctly and playable? And to answer your fan question, the Vantec tornado's are nice for gaming, i'd use a headset while playing. Possibly consider getting a fan controller so that you can turn them down while watching movies and such though. Fan's can either be plugged into a 3pin or a 4pin molex, if your fans don't have a 4 pin or a 3pin to 4pin adapter, you can get them pretty cheap, like $2 each at newegg.com and just run them straight from your power supply. I do this as its less clutter inside the case, and probably puts less stress on the motherboard.

Wait.... last time i checked 2x8800GT Walk over and around an GTX you can find........
you have to remember even if the GTS Slightly bottlenecks. 2x 8800GT's will bottleneck much more. thats alot of power

But what exactly makes your CPU better than an E2180?

Don't say the cache... that's unimportant.
