Higher end intels worth it?

Im thinkin of waitin a couple of months then buying the highest end CPU there is of intel. Will the performance difference from the mid-range budget cpu be worth it? I work with video editing and encoding and gaming. For example: Q6600 vs the QX one. How big is the performance diff? Or should i just go for the mid-range then and wait till nehalem's up and runnin smoothly then get the highest end nehalem?

The higher ends aren't worth it. They are just unlocked and higher clocked that's all.

mmm..will you can just get Q6600 and overclock it. I seen people get around 3.6Ghz.

Even the lowest end of the Intel core 2 duo to a 3.6Ghz.

Tech stuff depreciates so quickly. High-end system is usually the first victim of this. The key is to define the upgrade path/timeframe and find the balance between performance and cost.
