Take your time. I added some fields to the database that leaves some room for new test such as 2D and 3D (well, if I can get funding on this Let's see how it goes.).

definitely feeling noobish right now...

I unpacked the download to its own directory and fired up the application just fine. When I try to run the benchmark I get this:

I have installed both of the decoder files on the VMark website.

Beta 2.6.0

1.Reset baseline.
2.Expend database to store 2D/3D tests.
3.Optimized code to reduce test time.
4.Automatically copy Encoder 9 profile if the MS Encoder 9 doesn’t contain profile.

Download files.
1.Go to the download page of www.vmark-live.com.
2.Click the link to download file.
3.Unzip the file to your local hard drive. If you are OCN members, go to this thread to obtain password to extract setup file.
4.Run the setup.exe.
5.For existing beta testers, you can download the exe file to overwrite the old one in the application directory.

Version 2.6.0 use standard serialized XML format to transfer data. It is faster and secured. Please use this version to submit benchmark result. I discussed with Mega_option101, this thread is still the place for us to discuss, share ideas and report issue etc.

As always, thanks for your time and appreciate your help.

I think the Encoder installation isn't completed. The profile doesn't in the C:\\Program Files\\Windows Media Components\\Encoder\\Profiles. Unzip the attachment and save it to C:\\Program Files\\Windows Media Components\\Encoder\\Profiles. Version 2.6.0 will copy this file over that directory.

how much of a impact does gpu have on this benchmark if at all?
GPU doesn't have any impact on this stage. 2D/3D tests are for GPU. I am working on funding for tools to implement them.

Sorry Lins, but I am still running into issues getting the benchmark running. The 2.6.0 beta installed without a hitch, but I am now getting the following error when I attempt to run the test:

i believe you need to put all the files in the .rar into the old directory.
