hello all, I just received the parts to build my computer but I am having issues trying to install windows vista business 64 bit. I keep on getting a BSOD of 0xD1 when vista is starting to install. the BSOD says also Driver_Irq_Not_less_or_equal and nvstor.sys. my specs

Q6600 (no oc)
EVGA (T1) 680i
evga 8800GTS (g92)
crucial ballistixs 2x2GB DDR2800 4-4-4-12
WD AAKS 500GB HDD

I am very frusterated with this issue. I have the full story but y'all don't want to bored with it unless you think it would be needed.

Please help I have exhausted all that I know.
I have done so far is I flashed the BIOS with P32, done the memory game (switched/change the memory in all slots by themselfs and in pair), tried the memory at different timmings, and even tried different memory that is known good. so I am at a lost, any help is appretiated.
Thx

It's a ram issue. Try installing with a) only one stick, or b) a different set of ram.

Also, make sure the voltage is at the right value for the ballistix.

thanks for the quick replies, to answer both replaies, yes I have tried with different memory, just the single stick and also in pairs, and I also did make sure that the ballistix timmings were correct. I have not cleared the cmos but I will give it a try, but with the ram voltage bump, I have never oc before but I will see what I can do. Thanks for the replies, please keep them comming

thx for the replies. to respond to the memory advice, I thank you however it still bsod. I've tried it with just one stick of mem (2gb) and also with other known good mem (2x512mb) and still bsod. this is a recap of what is happening:

I am having an issue trying to install vista 64 bit on the 500gb hard drive. the hdd is sata and I believe that the serial controller is malfunctioning. I am able to install vista 64 bit on an eide hard drive, but I keep on getting blue screens of the error 0xd1 on the sata hdd (driver irq not less then or equal) and the root cause in the BSOD is the nvstor.sys driver which I believe is the raid/sata driver for the serial controller. also with windows installed on the eide hard drive the sata dvd will cause a bsod of 0x7e until I remove it. a ide dvd drive will work with no issues. I am so confused of what to do. I don't think that the harddrive and dvddrive are both defective. I am able to install vista from the SATA DVD burner onto the eide hard drive however once it boots it will bsod the 0x7e. also with vista installed on the eide hdd I hooked up the sata 500gb hard drive and windows will see it with no problems. however it still will not install on the 500gb harddrive. I updated the biois to p30 and then to p32 but still unable to install vista on any sata hdd. I am confused and do not know what to do. please help
