Upgrading CPU block... need advice - Page 2

I will see if I can find the thread on the tests performed. Results were close, but the Stinger pulled ahead. Were is Ira when I need him? He probably has it stickied.

I pay for the quad, so it's like "damn, i need a better WB" Then it's like "damn, i need another rad for the heat load."
I know exactly what you mean, i just upgraded my entire cooling setup for my Q4 rig.

I lost that thread CL, wish I still had it, it was against the old origional Swifty Apogee and it beat it by several C...

All I can really tell you is how they perform for me...On any s/775 I would buy a back=plate for it, it will take the flex out of your mobo, that really important with the Stinger blocks they have no flex in them...

The only one i used with plain WC'ing was the V-6 and it would keep me at 7-9C at load over whatever the room ambient was, thats at 1.6 v-core and a 3019mhz OC thats on a 150 Opty....fstfrddy is making a new V-6 that is a little wider and should work great on a Quad...

This is mine..

This is my new 437W TEC block, Moab, thats what fstfrddy names it (Mother of all Barbs)...All his blocks have a thin base and a jet barb inlet, this one is a 3/4" jet barb...

This is a plain V-8 I modded into a 320W TEC block...

This is a plain V-8P 437 W TEC block and my old V-6...

I really like his all metal blocks and have always had real good luck with them...Stinger WB

Hmmm... sexeh. I'm talking with Nevolution right now about buying his stinger V8 actually.

These stingers are looking better and better. I really like the jet barbs. I've got a Zalman backplate on right now, will that suffice?

Freddy's blocks are definitely "purpose built" and meant for providing temps, not matched by any other cpu block tested so far, on OCN. [although a few will give a Stinger a good run for its $$]

I knew you would wander your way here soon enough Thanks for the input Ira, and teh saucy pics of the 'Ohmehfghee-tahtsa-bigbarb'! "Holy-big-freakin-hole Batman, "

I guess it would be fine, as long as it take the flex out of the mobo you should be fine...If you ever want another one these are pretty good ones from what every one says.Dtek FuZion Intel 775 Pro-Mount set..

Does nevolution have a all brass, or is it a two tone cooper and brass? You cant hardly get him to make the copper tops anymore...Cant say as I blame him I hate chasing scratches in copper...

EDIT:^^HaHa...Yeah I cant stay away for long...Thats a freaking big barb aint it, I have a Iwaki WMD 20RZ pumping though it, works great....

Looks like a copper top to me, but i'm no expert, here's the link to the FS thread:

http://www.overclock.net/sale/285753...d-stinger.html

I got first dibs though!!

EDIT: on second thought, it looks like brass... maybe...

So theres not actually any data showing the Stingers against the Fuzion or Supreme?

I think a Stinger should be on it's way over to Martin!

Thats a polycarb top...You cant take the block, apart they are soldered together and it has polycarb mounts...They still have the same internals as the all metal blocks so it should work fine....

On V-8's I always use a double in res like this..Dual-In Res..Some guys Y them back together, but I figure I will get a little better flow through the block going to a double in res....

EDIT^^^He already tried a V-8 Dryadsoul gave him and it was a C or two hotter then a Fuzion, but he didn't use a back-plate on it...There are several guys here that say they get better temp's with one then a Fuzion...On s/775 you almost have to have a back plate with a Stinger, it has a S channel internal design, so its stiff as a board, no flex at all...

TBH i was just gonna "y" it back, but maybe it's time to get a res i guess. Thanks everyone!
