Alright. But surely a failed hard drive wouldn't prevent a BootCD from starting? That's what's troubling me at the moment.
Bah

BootCDs start as long as the RAM, Mobo and CPU are working.
The hard disk can be busted or not even installed, and it'll start fine.

I'd suspect a hard disk issue.

Any chance you tried another SATA cable yet?

Have you tried running memtest on the ram to rule it out? The file is a downloadable ISO image that creates the bootable CD for you. try that and see if you can run it; and if so, what are the results?

I would say this:

Your IDE/SATA controller. If your DVD drives and Hard drives have failed, it seems like the obvious choice.

Other than that, RAM would be the next one.

Yeah, I was beginning to think it is my Southbridge.
A friend of mine brought his RAM and it was still the same.
He has taken my hard drive and RAM to test on his motherboard to see if we can get any life from it.

The thing is, that the DVD Drive is now working again, so it seems.

So it also seems that we have the possibilities of a broken Hard Drive or Motherboard here.
