Q6600, Q6700, Q9450? Which one?

Okay, so I am going to be "upgrading" to the way of the quad here soon and I have 3 quads that have my eye, which would you guys pick and why?

I'd really like to keep this from becoming a 45nm bashing thread, but obviously people are going to have feelings one way or the other, so let me have it.
  • Frys Electronics has the Q6600 for $189.99 in store.
  • The Q6700 should be dropping in price here soon, and ClubIt has it for ~$299.99 occasionally. Something worth keeping my eyes open for, I believe, that 10x multi is calling me.
  • The Q9450 has the newer technology, but as everyone probably knows, is running ~$360$ for an 8x Multi.

I don't have insane overclocking in mind, but I would like to grab a quad that can really push my new X38 board, but seeing as this board wasn't cheap, throwing money away isn't one of my top priorities. Thats what hookers are for... *cough*

Anyways.
Thats my current hardware dilema.

Thanks for the input.

Well I'm pretty sure q6700 and q6600's are getting similar o/c's. The q9450 is expensive for an 8x multi. The q6600 is a steal at 190. I would go for the q6600 imo.

No Poll?

1) Q6600 Tried and true workhorse, great value.
2) Q9450 45nm and your board should handle the fsb just fine
3) Q6700 overpriced Q6600

hey clinic another arizonian, cool. as you can see in my sig, i have several of the Q6600's. i just put in my last one that i picked up from FRYS today.(the one on T-BIRD). you cant go wrong with that cpu for that price. most everyone gets atleast 3.2. most get 3.4, and if you have a low VID and a good cooler, you can reach 3.6.

I wouldn't even consider the Q9450. That leaves the other two.

If you could get the Q6700 within $100 of the Q6600 then I'd say go for it. If not, $189.99 is a great price for the Q6600.

Q6600

The 6700 is just a higher priced Q6600 with a different multi and the 45nm aren't worth the $$.

Heh.
<--Watercooled.

Yeah, I was at the Fry's over there at Thunderbird& 31st Ave. yesterday. Thats when I saw the super cheap Q6600's. You said you bought one from there? Are their chips all G0 stepping? I asked the dudes in their goofy white uniforms, and they just stared at me blankly. No help there.

since you have watercooling get either the q6600, or the q6700. In April there is a price drop on both anyways
