Mobo optical sound not working after switch to Vista

Thread Starter
I just popped a new HDD into my rig and decided to install Vista Ultimate x64 and dual boot it with XP Pro. So far all my programs work with the 64-bit OS (I was expecting more problems). But for some reason the onboard optical out wont work. My system is connected to my Yamaha receiver with both the optical cable and with a 3.5mm-to-RCA cable. The 3.5-to-RCA works fine but its obviously a lower quality signal so I want to use the optical to get the most out of my music/games/movies and my high-end stereo. I installed all the SoundMax software for my motherboard but it didnt help.

Anyone have any ideas about whats causing this problem? thanks in advance for the help

I would uninstall the sound drivers, then go online and get some. Alot of the mobo disks don't seem to have good x64 drivers on them, while the online ones work fine.
