Can I OC my PC?

Thread Starter
Based on my system configuration, can I overclock anything in my pc?
I'm a noob at OCing, but I want to learn how to. I would love to get my cpu to at least 3.0GHz.
Please include steps to how to OC anything in my PC.

From what I've read, that motherboard will not get you to 3.0 GHz.

To OC, you can start in your BIOS menu. Restart your computer and enter your BIOS (sometimes it's the Delete key or F12).

Then you need to look around the BIOS until you find the FSB (front side bus) Change that is small increment (around 5 MHz or so) and exit and save changes.

That's a short how to. Hardcore OCing is much more in-depth and can be found floating around the forums.

Welcome to OCN by the way.

you are definitely able to OC with that setup.

I dont know for sure if you will be able to get it up to 3.0.

Do you know anything about FSB?

Remember this is from what I've read.

I've just heard that the 680i chipset doesn't OC quads very well.

WRONG!!

if its an A1 rev board he will be able to clock to 3.6,even a pre A! should do 3 no probs!!I have managed to get 3ghz from my asus p5n32e sli plus which is as far as this pos goes

@OP: there are some O.C. guides on here for the 680 boards have a look at them

fsb to 333(1333QD pumped thing) on a x9 divider gives 3ghz

In the Intel Motherboards forum here on Overclock.net, this thread has been stickied:

Essentials for Overclocking the 680i (NVIDIA Reference boards) (no, I don't know what an "nvidia reference board" is)

In this thread, you'll find a link to a PDF document. Here is the URL:

http://www.nvidia.com/docs/CP/45121/...erclocking.pdf

Don't worry about the pencil vdroop mod.

Also, see this thread:

Intel CPUs Essential Threads It includes 2 really good overclocking guides made by two of our OCN members.
