Need Help On Choosing A New Graphics Card

Hi, I need some help on buying a new graphics card. I have a 2900xt but I have a buyer lined up and I want to get a new graphics card. My price range is in the vicinity of 180-240$. I would like to be able to run crysis at all high 1680x1050. I can run it at that all high except for 3 and i get around 20 fps. My specs are below this post as most everyone already knows. I want a nice cooler on it mainly, and thats it. One thing that comes to mind is the 8800gts 512mb g92. But I don't know. I just need some help. I kind of don't want to go with ati again because most games work better on Nvidia. But if there is a really good deal that is the ATI route and is better than a 2900xt please tell me. Thanks. Oh and I would like it to be a good ocer on stock fan. At least 100mhz.

those are some pretty high demands for 240 dollars...

I think this is the best you're going to do

stock clock of 650mhz, but i doubt you'll be able to hit 750mhz on the stock cooler.

and you shouldn't go asking for rep man, it makes you look like a tool.
Well graphics cards prices have gone down so much. The 8800gt is nicely prices at 180-250 and performs very well. Do u think i should get that and get an aftermarket cooler? And what are u talking about asking for rep????? No jk i edited it and thanks for the advice.

good, and welcome to OCN

and about the 8800gt, you could go that route and overclock it like crazy, but an 8800gt+cooler will cost about the same as an 8800gts, and i think even with an amazing overclock, you're only going to match, or come close to the performance of the GTS because the gts has 128 shaders as opposed to the GT's 112

Edit: by the way where did you get that picture of the modded 2900xt? that is by far the coolest looking video card i've ever seen.

My BFG OC card (675mhz stock core vs 650mhz) does 775mhz core, and it only loads at ~55c

I guarantee you BFG bins their chips and picks the best ones to be their OC edition cards.... he's not going to be able to buy an OC edition card man, he would be buying a lower end 8800gts

You have a crossfire board, so why not crossfire 3850's. The 256vram versions are $130, which is a bit out of your price range.

You really think BFG does that? The majority of non-OC cards also get 750mhz core +. Just because the name on the card is low end, that does not make it a low end card
