What about GeekSquad??? - Page 2

Any local Pc shops?

GeekSquad is more cash then they are worth. You could figure it out yourself. Dont give up! That is what makes you more pc smart.

Ship it to me Ill get it working. I would only charge you shipping and like $20 to fix. If i cant get it working I will pay to ship it back.

Im thinking of opening a pc shop.

Thats how I got good at computers and it makes you smarter to figure out everything. Let me know ..

My Dad just sent his comp to GeekSquad because of a nasty little virus (that I couldnt correct because Im not at his house all the often to do anything).

They charged a fortune, barely fixed the problem (this comp still has issues), and UNINSTALLED ZONEALARM AND SPYBOT, and what else? They sold him a copy of Spysweeper.

Internet Explorer is botched, XFire wont connect, and the comp is STILL slow!

I strongly do NOT recommend GeekSquad, definitely go with someone else.

Welcome to a huge part of building PC's, they have weird problems, you try to fix them. Its a mystery that most of us are obsesive compulsive enough to stay up all night trying to fix.
1. Keep trying yourself.
2. Local computer shop.

Heres what a computer shop will do-
Charge you a FORTUNE for a "diagnostic" in which they don't really do anything.
Determine from this "diagnostic" that you need a new mobo, hd, and then they will try to sell you a new OS and some anti-virus. I've delt with those people, they are to lazy to try to fix a problem, they just sell you a new board and do a clean install. HUGE waste of money. This may sound dumb but... Have you tried starting again? doing a clean install of everything, reinstall your OS, drivers, etc. Otherwise, I had a problem like this and when I got a different mobo it fixed the problem, just some stupid compatibility issue.
