I was leaning towards this assumption at first. Especially reading the reviews at newegg. You never know what those people's expertise actually is. Especially when 80% of the reviews are positive.

Are all the 9600gt's nvidia reference design or have some of the companies started using their own. I know ASUS likes to use there own design. It would be interesting to see if every manufacturer is having this problem or just EVGA.

Here is another quote on the same problem.

I said they worked great for 2 weeks. Apparently there is a problem with the shader overclock. When this card or cards in SLI are put to task they tend to lock up in a Black Screen. It seems EVGA is stepping up and advance RMA'ing cards to end users at this time. I am currently working with MSI to do the same. The only way out is the ""One finger salute"" -reset button. The non-OC versions do not have this issue.

Well mine works fine on stock speeds, I got it week after the card was released. Apparently overclocking does cause the black screen.

Well at least I'm stepping up to a 9800GTX when that's out.

Mine work fine, no problems and I love them. I would definitely buy them again.

ya i havnt had a problem with mine yet, occasionally a game will crash but i think its a memory issue as it nots bosd'ing me (ive had a few but they were while trying to push my memory, or my cpu.

i BARELY touched my card tho, i just put it up to the factory OC'd speeds 670/955/1675 from 650/900/1625.

i play wow,cod4,sims2 (well my gf does the sims) everything maxxed at 1600x1200 70 refresh and i get over 70 fps in wow for entire raids, no problems.

but i have a nice psu, and 7 fans cooling **** off, so i dont think i could overheat it with these settings. my cpu is only at 3.15 from 2.6 and still at stock volts
