need some help desiding on soundcard

the futures i'm most interested in is "Dolby Digital Live" and "DTS Connect" so i can get 5.1(7.1 if possible) gaming sound over on my receiver true spdif/toslink

candidates:
TerraTec SoundSystem Aureon
Club3D Theatron Agrippa this is the most entising as it's the cheapest that have suport for both formats
Asus Xonar DX/XD
Bluegears b-Enspirer
Razer Barracuda AC-1
Asus Xonar D2/PM
Asus Xonar D2X/XDT

does any of the more expensive cards here offer better sound than the cheapest one?
doo i need the simulated eax 5.0 suport the Xonar's have, when using "Dolby Digital Live" and "DTS Connect"?

Ps. i couldnt care less about the quality of the dac im only interested in the cards ability to give me quality suround sound over spdif/toslink when i game

Since your goal is gaming get the Razer.....Xonar says that it has EAX 5 but thats just a emulator...not hardware based.......

Under Vista all EAX is software based. Alchemy plays with words when it states that it gives "full hardware acceleration". What it means is that is bypasses the hardware and gives similar effects through OpenAL conversion as if it were hardware accelerated.

My vote goes to the B-Enspirer or Xonar D2X.

IMO, go for the HDA X-plosion 7.1.....it has got all Dolby Digital features you asked.....that should fulfill your audio requirements

i have just landed on B-Enspirer my self, this far after reading intesnly on the web

now to justify the double price of the xonar if possible

the Club3D Theatron Agrippa 7.1 has the exact same spec's as the hda/asoundtech x-plosion

it was my first choise but the step up to the newest chip where thy have fixed some audioable problems that thy had with the CMI8770 chip(discontinued)
is not to big ^^ the step up to the xonar on the other hand i think i'l have a harder time to justify
