Sapphire 3870

Thread Starter
I bought a Sapphire 3870 round a month ago and i seem to have lost the dvi to hdmi adapter. I figured i would go and buy another one so i did. Thing is i get no sound on my tv. I have a Sony Bravia 32"... Do i need the ATI "special" adapter to have sound workin or i need something else? I downloaded the realtek ati hdmi drivers since im using a on board HD audio. Still no sound... Any suggestions?

Sorry but you're incorrect. If the ATI card is HD compatible it is able to deliver sound w/ ATI's SPECIAL dvi adapter. I have it set up on my rig and i run hdmi to my tv with sound and display. Using a dvi port + the adapter

Yes I am incorrect if he is using ati's special adapter, but all he has said so far is he's bought a dvi - hdmi adapter, which will not output audio, we won't really know until he answers his post will he?

reading up it seems he is just using a regular dvi-hdmi which does not support audio, the cheapest solution would just be to get a rca y cable adapter.

Well then that isn't DVI. DVI does not support audio in any fashion. As you stated, HDMI does, so your "special" converter simply forces audio onto an HDMI cable through ATi's adapter.

although i am wrong by stating him as incorrect when he said that. But i thought his intentions were to say you can't get it out of the DVI port and through the HDMI

Yes the adapter i have bought is a simple DVI to HDMI adapter that only transfers videoo. I lost the ATI Special adapter wich forces the audio. I was just wondering if i could get it from somewhere cuz all the shops i went said they dont have any for sale...
