WD or Seagate... - Page 3

Here is the bottom line:

Both brands are great, some people will say WD and some will say Seagate. Both brands have had their times of failure, no product is perfect. Some people happen to have had WD fail and will say Seagate, and some vice versa. This is just the way the world is. You can't go wrong with either brand, because the only advice we can all give is from personal experiences with any failures and such.

Thread Starter
I'll just look around for the most suited drive then! looking for the fastest of the 2 and yet the cheapest! will probebly end up with a seagate then.
it is true that they have a longer warrenty right?

Edit: is it really that much of a difference 7200 vs 7200.11 RPM? since aparently there isn't any seagate drive at 7200.11 with 250 gb

and, i'm looking at some HDD's and they all have a different number of heads and a different number of harddrives, does that effect speed or quality in any form? if so wich one should i choose?

The later Seagates are all 7200RPM drives. I believe the 9.10.11 is the series of drive.

I like both manufactuers... but right now, Seagate's 5 year warranty is the "deal maker" with me.

That and the fact that their 7200.11 is just fast as hell.

actually not series but generation.

the .xx means which generation.

and ST 1TB blows. It has so many issues just didn't make it to public.
WD 1TB sucks also becasue is green...which means 5400rpm but they choose to advertise it vigously.

P.S. if you looking for 160GB, just pick any brand, they all low cost 160GB platter crap.
