I flew over your budget a little bit, excluding the psu, those are some pretty sick parts for £265

Nice job!! think I could sacrifice an extra £15. cheers. a 450W psu comes with the case - might be a rubbish brand tho. was after the core 2 duo but i'm gonna have to sacrifice it with my budget. is the cooler a must with that set up?

just found a cheap intel core 2 duo: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/produc...id=6&subid=793

if i was to go with the Core 2 Duo E2160 "LGA775 Conroe" 1.80GHz would i get better performance than the Dual Core E2180 2.0GHz you picked out which is a similar price? Both of these come with a heatsink and fan so I can take the cooler off the shopping list?

As the both these processors are have an FSB of 800 would it be better to get DDR2 800 motherboard and ram rather than 667 you pointed out (if i can squeeze it in the budget!), correct me if I'm wrong as I know its ideal to have the ram and motherboard matched but was wondering whether the processor performance would be affected

ditch the E4500 and get this:

http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/prod...code=CPI-E2180

Its cheaper and it runs about the same... All it has it has less L2 cache..

edit: eh you wouldn't notice a thing.. unless you are benchmarking.. You can just overclock that 1.8ghz to 2.0 and it will be the same.

The E2160 is the same chip as the E2180, just with a lower multiplier. If it will help you save money, go with the 2160.
