Sorry if this sounds noobish But I need help overclocking

Thread Starter
I have a p5nSLI and whenever I turn the FSB somewhere around 1150 and it wont turn on and I have to reset the bios, why won't it turn on? how can I overclock it more without it failing?

(I have a very good airflow)

Ok I don't know much about overclocking but if your ram is linked to the fsb it might be crapping out

Hope this helps if not theres others who will know

Just to let you know I got this CPU to 3.4Ghz 24 hour stable, so try what im going to say.
Return everything to stock, and then take it in slower steps, it sounds like youve built the system recently?
If so then take it from 2.13Ghz stock to 2.3Ghz, then leave it for a few days, when you go to up it to 2.4-2.5Ghz it will boot properly, im not sure what 1150 fsb makes the clock?
But dont just ram the fsb up.
I was suprised because I was failing to boot at 2.8Ghz, but I ran it at that clock speed for a week, then upped to 3Ghz, and ran stable for 8 hours in orthos, this was the same from 3 to 3.2Ghz and so on.

Also make sure that you unlink your RAM with the CPU speed, because your RAM will die if you take the FSB too high, this may be another reason.

Just take it easy.

You'll need to be more specific. What are your various multipliers, dividers, and timings set at?
