fastest card for $100?

Thread Starter
My brother needs a video card and the budget is 100 USD, not counting shipping fees. It looks like I can get an 8600GT, is there a faster offering from ATI or maybe an older generation nvidia?

The only game he plays is Crysis, so... last I heard Nvidia cards had an advantage in Crysis but I'm not sure if this is still the case.

the 8600GT would only play Crysis on mostly low and a few medium settings

Eww, no. 8800GS ftw.
It's just a little over 100$, depending on what version you get.

Of course. If he wants to play on highest settings, he just uses my computer.

To support my post, a little info:

8800GTS
Price: 122$
Core Clock: 500MHz
Stream Processors: 96
Memory Clock: 1600 MHz
Memory Size: 320MB
Memory Interface: 320-bit
Memory Type: GDDR3
*Takes up two slots.

8800GS
Price: 125$
Core Clock: 680MHz
Stream Processors: 96
Memory Clock: 1600 MHz
Memory Size: 384MB
Memory Interface: 192-bit
Memory Type: GDDR3
*Takes up one slot. (Great if you wish to upgrade to SLI!)

And that's the most expensive 8800GS available, you could even go cheaper, but the core clock would be a little lower. Still, it's the most under-rated card as far as I'm concerned.
