ok first of all bluetooth is standard dont have to pay extra for it so is the camera and the mic in the laptop wifi N is available by them aswell...second of all do you really have 4GB of ram in your laptop, your processor is running 3.7GHz??(and ur systme runs for 3 hours REALLY?!)...and 17" really do you REALLY need all of that to go to class take notes surf the web a little and take notes...NO YOU DONT! simple fact is that most college kids do that with their laptops... I mean not everyone is on their laptop gaming mos tof the time they are what on facebook or myspace or something like that... the whole thing we are trying to say is taht ppl do it because they get what they want from it and it looks nice and its not a big stack of bricks... you on the other hand need that then go with it we are not trying to persuade you from the fact that you have a good laptop we are trying to persuade you that its not always about you other ppl do other things with their laptops and not everyone wants to sit alone in the corner and play their FPSs

I don't want to get into an argument. I just thought it was a little silly to purchase an already more expensive Mac, then purchase Vista on top of that, just *for the case*. This isn't a car we're talking about here. And *definitely* not a girl, lol. It's a laptop. There are plenty of decent looking laptops not made by Mac. Give me a break. And settle down a little. Sheesh.

The bottom line is that a Mac notebook will cost you $500+(at the high end) more than a comparable Dell, Gateway, etc.

I don't know that many college students that are willing to dish out hard earned cash for a pretty case and OSX. Not to mention the cooling systems on these notebooks are horrid, which WILL decrease the life of the notebook significantly.

So to respond to the OP (WHICH MOST PEOPLE DONT CARE TO DO ANY MORE) I believe that college students planning to buy a Mac are in for a rude awakening.

Do I really need to keep repeating this.

They buy it for the OS and the bundled software.

The reason for the popularity of the mac is that Jonathan Ive is a design genius.

Do I have to quote myself?

BTW looking at the Apple site, the software that people actually want is extra $$.

Wow, you have a 3.46GHz CPU laptop? Where did you get that?

RAM doesn't take all that much power...

I have bluetooth, I have N. I don't have a 2nd HDD, though.

So you're saying that with all that stuff ON (and a CPU @ 3.46GHz) you get 3 hours? If I'm getting 4-5 hours with wireless on, including a wireless USB mouse, then don't you think I'd get at least 3 hours too?

What are you constantly using bluetooth for those 3 hours?

Wow, I disagree with you, but you made a damn good argument! You made your point very well, and though I disagree, I respect your opinion

I don't agree either, but you gotta admit, he made his point very well.

Didn't it stop and make you think "Hmm.. Maybe.."?

That's because Macs aren't subsidized by crapware and adware, and they come with FULL of 1st party software (namely the iLife suite.)

You might not like the software, and that's why you have a choice whether or not to make the purchase
