well the fact that intel runs 2 cores as dual core and they slap the name quad on it is the reason. Unlike AMD which has 4 seperate cores the intel CPU have 2 dual cores on there. And fact as we have seen over the years clock speeds are getting lower with more cores. AMD Cpu essentially are chugging along 4 at what ever clock speed, where as intel are chuging 2. Thats not to say intel are crap no I'm not saying that and all the benchmarks dont lie. The point I'm making is that the AMD CPU is true quad core. However the real question is "Are we ready for quad core in this day and age? Or should AMD have slapped 2 AMD X2 processors and called it squad core like intel have?

People care about results, not packaging. All the facts you mention maybe true, but they don't result in real world performance benefits except in > 2 socket servers.

and if you ACTUALLY read what i said which stated

"However the real question is "Are we ready for quad core in this day and age? Or should AMD have slapped 2 AMD X2 processors and called it quad core like intel have?"

You would have seen that im implying true Q4 is not the way forward right now as it does impact performance. Yes intel are better AND i stated that in my comments, im just stating why the clock speeds are lower because people constantly bring this up so i thought i would educate them. Of course people care about performance, but atm i can run Crysis at average 40FPS on High with my rig. Thats more than enough for me. Considering ive seen rig's running that game much worse. Im not having a go or starting a argument or any such all im stating is a point on why they are lower, tha is all. I will stick by AMD, have done for a while and yea i got stung this time, (done no research lol) but im sure their later CPU's will be better so ill wait till they arrive and upgrade then

had AMD put 2 5000BE cores together and called it a 2X2 5000+BE .. AMD would be right there with intel.. but they didnt..

they are making a true quadcore and hopefully this time when intel wants AMD to sell to them how there quads work.. they will tell them its called R&D not glue

3.1Ghz! I think this is the first 3.0Ghz AMD Quad I have ever seen. Still its probably only as fast as a 2.9GHz 65nm Intel Quad or a 2.8GHz 45nm Quad.

Ace, it all comes down to architecture. At the moment Intel's is apparently on top
