9800x2 Over-rated? - Page 2

You do need a SLI mobo for SLI GX2, because there are two PCI-E slots being occupied by graphics cards.

If you have, say a P35 mobo, you still get SLI in the ONE GX2, but for quad SLI, you ineed need a SLI mobo.

Ah, I wasn't even thinking about that. (Non-SLI motherboard = 2GPU's.)
I suppose that is indeed a perk... BUT:

If someone has enough money to buy such card, why would they skimp out on the motherboard. Also, I don't think it'd really be worth it. Can spend like half the price on one GTX, and get neither as much performance.

Also, the thing about running two 9800x2 in SLI...
How would 3 GTX's compare?

Well for me I can only run 1 card on the Commando unless I go Crossfire but I choose to stick with Nvidia chips I have always used them.

There enters the 2GPUs on 1 card.

Some Peeps want to use Intel Chipsets as historically they are more efficient OC'ing elements (although 790 seems to be improving). At the same time, they may want to stick with Nvidia cards.

There may or may not be a rhyme or reason, or even reality involved in the decision-making process. It is a personal preference, and I decline to take sides...

I have seen dozens of Threads that spiral into arguments and heated discussions (fighting even)- from where I stand it really doesn't matter to me. I plan on giving ATI a try in a few months...

For those that it does matter to, they should follow their insticts and desires to achieve what is right for them.

I understand the viewpoint of the elite OC'ers and their quest for higher Benchmarks, me... I'm not one of the elite - if the system plays all current games on High-Settings (sans that damndable Crysis) I'm all smiles... ...see?
