[VR-zone] NVIDIA GT200 : GeForce 9900 GTX & 9900 GT In Q3

No it is not some April Fool jokes. VR-Zone has learned that there will be two high end parts from Nvidia to replace the current GeForce 9800 GX2 and 9800 GTX in Q3. These two parts are GeForce 9900 GTX and GeForce 9900 GT based on the new GT200 architecture. GeForce 9800 GX2 and GTX will have a short lifespan since they will be replaced in a couple of months time. Nvidia has positioned GeForce 9900 GTX to replace 9800 GX2 and this gave a clue that a single GT200 card will actually outperform a dual G92 card. Likewise for GeForce 9900 GT, outperforming and replacing 9800 GTX. CJ revealed to us that Nvidia will have a hard time fitting GT200 onto the PCB since the GPU is gonna be large and very power hungry so we can probably assume it is still 65nm based. The PCB for GT200 will be P651.

can't wait. finally something to replace 8800GTX

ATI is going to hit 45nm before Nvidia gets the half step done. I wonder if these will beat RV770.

Cool. I dont mind waiting. Nothing worth playing needs more than a GT at the moment anyway it seems.

it sounds more like a response to rv770. If the 770 is going to push numbers like they say it will then nvidia will need to power up. And by the sounds of it these new cards dont have a real design. It looks like they are just throwing as much as they can onto the boards and throw more juice at it to make it work faster.

"CJ revealed to us that Nvidia will have a hard time fitting GT200 onto the PCB since the GPU is gonna be large and very power hungry so we can probably assume it is still 65nm based."

What happened to their 55nm? They need to stop producing cards that cost so much and design one that is efficient with the same performance.

Assuming, these don't flop like the others did. Of course they can
say their own products will be superior, but they did as well with the 9800 and look at it's meager performance.

This really isn't any new news, it just confirms what we've been hearing for a while now.

Good to hear though, these are the cards I've been waiting for.

Yea I was planning on going with the 2x9900GTX... DX10.1 support and all that as well (even though its not a big deal).

Probably grab Nehalem, DDR3, and 2x 9900GTX late this year.
