Reformatting my Laptop

Thread Starter
Hey guys, im pretty new to laptops and i just got a new one for school a little while ago. I want to reformat my lappy because it currently has vista, and i want to put xp on it for better performance, and because i want to get rid of all the extra garbage that laptops come with. What my question is, is what do i need to have on a jump drive ready to install after i reformat, are there any special drivers that i need that im unaware of? anything different with reformatting a lappy from a normal desktop? it may be a dumb question, so i apologize in advance, but thank you for your responses.

RJC,

Go to the website of the company that made your laptop and download all the drivers available there for Windows XP. Go to Device Manager and find out the names and drivers needed for all your hardware (Video card, Wireless card, etc.). Then download these drivers and save them to your flash drive. Then wipe the drive like normal and install XP, and then install the drivers. Hope this helps!
