Come to think of it... What could they do to make Macs any cheaper?

Putting less memory doesn't make sense. I suppose they could use celerons... But then again, when did a Mac ever use a celeron, or any midrange CPU for that matter?

They could use AMDs!! That would slow things down a bit, though. Nonetheless, it would lower the price. I couldn't recommend an AMD for a laptop, though.

They can't lower the graphics anymore. Smaller HDDs don't make sense.
I suppose they could offer options like taking out the webcam and/or bluetooth and wireless. But Apple did work to standardize those things, didn't they?

Dunno, there really isn't much they can do except lower the prices altogether.

OH! They can advertise using adware and crapware! (They could, but I would hope not lol)

I'm just going to say I don't understand that. I don't see it as taking any side. I can't possibly; I just don't understand it lol

Layman's terms, please?

What's the right man's "rich man" computer, then? His own multi-thousand dollar custom build? If so, then I get it

Ok....

Poor man's computer = Crappy hardware
Rich man's computer = Usually expensive just for the sake of being expensive.

Rich man's (Poor man's computer) = Expensive computer with comparitively crappy hardware.

Macs aren't really "crappy", they're actually quite nice. They're just overpriced.

If Macs are overpriced, what do I have to say about Falcon Northwest and VoodooPC?

I read along, and my point was for a gaming computer, Macs are about $400-$800 more for the same hardware. Noone disputed that, they argued that they weren't always talking about gaming computers.

I agree that the lower end Macs are equally priced, but as I said before, this is OCN....

I'm sure Apple would never do that...

What? That's what you've been talking about all along? lol

I thought it has been long decided and agreed upon that Macs are not gaming machines. There's literally zero (0) point in comparing Macs to gaming computers, the main reason being that games aren't ported to OSX. I guess you could argue "Just use Bootcamp" and whatnot... But really Macs aren't geared toward the gaming market whatsoever, so I don't see any point in comparing them to gaming PCs.

Expect to see another one of my lovely comparisons very soon. I'm interested to see what the price difference is. I will compare an iMac (probably the 2nd model up), and then a MacBook Pro.

Comparing a MacPro probably won't work out since it uses server hardware and all.

That's about it for Apple's "high-end," though. We'll see tomorrow... Or possibly friday; I'm going to be busy the next couple days. But that doesn't mean to not be expecting me; procrastination is my middle name

Ok, now I'm just talking out of my ass... I get like this when it's late.

Ok, then let's take the average price deltas among each comparison. I'll do this as well when I have the time. I'm very interested to actually see the numbers. I find it fascinating that claims of "price this, price that" about Mac vs PC has been thrown around for AGES, yet it is only the past couple of days that anyone has actually done any point-to-point, apples-to-apples comparisons.
