I think not including the Roxio is a good idea, since just like OSX comes with burning software, the Dell comes with Windows, which happens to come with burning software as well! (Wow! who would have thought!)

I think the Dell still comes out on top because you get to choose whether you want to pay more for more, or keep it under a budget. With Apple, you either blow the whole load, or don't get it at all. (A good example is the battery)

I don't think anyone took the time to think about build quality, meanwhile your dell laptop is made out of plastic, My macbook pro is made out of aluminum, the build quality is insane

I totally agree, however it will never be. Google's products are all free so there isn't some sort of entry fee into the club. Also, Google is too useful. Seriously, who needs a powerful email or calendar system? Open source mobile software that can do anything you program an app to do? Extremely fast and efficient search that can find you anything? Nope. That's not enough to win you any awards. Charge $1000 to use all this and you are a sure fire winner. Especially if Google had some false advertising where they gloated about the product and made incorrect statements about competitor's software ("Yahoo!'s search engine couldn't find its way out of a paper bag!! Google's better.")

Run them both over. None will survive.

It's thin aluminum, probably has only slightly more strength than the plastic.

"[Apple is] the only one I can think of that i truly couldn’t replace — in work or in entertainment. With any other brand that I love, there’s some other one I can turn to if it disappeared. But not Apple," said one voter"

That 'voter' seriously needs help. Fanboy much?? Sounds like one of them kids who cried when there favourite boy-band split up.

"In fact, most felt that if Apple existed 100 years ago, the course of history would have been forever altered for the better"

Come on please!! Do they really think that Apple could've prevented numerous wars/disease outbreaks/natural disasters? What next an annoucement that Steve Jobs is JC reincarnate??

"Because I like to come at things differently. I chose to ’think different.’ This is what I offer my clients: a different way to look at and think about their business," mentioned a voter"

What different ways to think about business is there?!? The bottom line is to make a profit or at very worse break even. How the hell can Apple enlighten you on new ways of thinking??!

I for one can't stand Apple/Starbucks and to a degree Google. People rave on about how good an Apple product is yet fail to realise you can go and buy an often better alternative for a much cheaper price. It's all about having a brand name.

Starbucks is the same, why pay 2 or 3 times the price for a coffee/tea/cookie/muffin etc, compared to another store?? Again its about being seen as cool and in a 'trendy' place.

I can't wait till the masses switch to Apple only to find out how frustrating it is to deal with the company (ever had a broken iPod?!).

Actually, I don't even think the masses will move to Apple. $400 for an iPod or iPhone (when there are $200 brands availible) is and ok premium to pay. $2000 for a laptop when you can buy one for $1000 with Windows is a killer imo. Coming up with an extra $200 to look cool is different than coming up with an extra $1000. Apple will not make a big influence on the majority of customers until they lower their prices. Bravo to their marketing team and ad campaign.

Its is because of their clever and aggressive marketing that they have maintained their position. You go and program with the unix based system. I prefer sticking to Windows NT based kernel thanks very much.
Apple hasnt maintained their position, they have grown. That said, how do you figure apple will become bankrupts? They have released one thing that took the market by storm; the Ipod. And coupled with strong computer sales, apple can only grow at this point really. Will they ever be a microsoft? Not likely. Will they die? Also not likely.

I love how people act like they Mac's are stronger.

My response

How much did it cost?

-<Insert rediculous price>

Oh really, mine only costs (<Insert rediculous price>/2 - 100)
Or like they are more user friendly?

As for the ipods. It's just a %$#^ing fashion statement. Reminds me of Pokemon cards in elementary school

Apple should make a new slogan "The best things in the world aren't Free"
