Can't overclock q6600 past 3ghz

Thread Starter
I just bought a Q6600 and I can't seem to overclock it past 3.0 GHz.

I have it at 333 x 9

When ever I go past 333 my computer wont even post.

I have Ballistix Tracer PC2-8500 ram and the activity lights on top seem to blink ever so slightly off sync repeating the same patters over and over.

I am then forced to enter my bios recovery and reset the settings.

I am currently at 1.30 V

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Voltage is too low.

Check your ram divider too.

Try your memory unlinked and maybe upping the Volt a little. 1.3 may not be enough for the Q6600. Then there is a lot of people with a Q6600 that prolly guide you a little better.

First of all why did you buy PC2-8500 RAM since it doesn't match ur FSB. Try this 350 x 8/ 1.35 VCore if u can't get it stable try up Northbridge by 1 notch. Let me know what happens. And what about ur temps.

Yes, voltage is the issue I'm betting as well. Ditto to the 1.35v and try again. That chip can handle more so don't worry about upping it.

Hmm, so I got my computer to boot at 3.2GHz running 3.5v but now just after the Windows Vista flag begins I get a QUICK flashed B.S.O.D and then a restart. So I'm guessing that failed.

Any ideas as to what exactly is causing this ?

or 1.35V?
could be the memory or could be still need more voltage, but 1.35v should be good though, try up it and see if it will boot up? dont worry, this cpu can take at least 1.5v just fine.
