dk p35-t2rs + e2160 ocing

so i was able to get an oc on stock settings of 3ghz 333x9 and getting orthos stable load temps hovering around 55c which was fine but i wanted to push it after some tweaking i was able to get 3.2ghz 400x8 to boot and stay in vista by slowly upping vcore to 1.4 and northbridge also to 1.4 memory is 1:1. idleing at about 30-33c with a tuniq 120 on high in my antec 900 all fans on high. when i start orthos it gets ridiculously hot like 65-66c is that too hot also it eventually crashes with bsod? should i reseat my tuniq? try diff thermal paste(im using the thermal paste that came with the tuniq (it probably sucks huh?) didnt have any as5 in hand.)? mind you all this is my first time ocing. also orthos is not displaying the correct multiplier but cpu z is. im running vista ultimate 64 bit.

well For a e2160 you are probably reaching the max OC for air cooling. Remember that every chip is different and will get a different OC.

I am not sure if you have a specific question or just want to know if you can go farther.

Also go into your profile and add your system specs so they show in your sig. Link if it works

Remember patience, and specific questions usually get better support.

Those temps seem quite high for 1.4v and a tuniq tower. I would try reseating it as my setup with a Zerotherm Nivana doesn't reach 60C at load with 1.48v. As well if you haven't read any OC guides it'd be worth your time to read through the on in my sig. Keep us updated, we'd love to help.

well i changed the multi to try a higher fsb. ya im thinking of reseating it and trying some new thermal paste. the temps just seemed pretty high from what i was reading online of other peoples results that was mainly what i was curious about. so running it at ~65c on load for long periods would be pretty bad right? thinking reseat will help

65C is a little too high imo. Reseating it may or may not solve the problem but it's the cheapest and quickest solution if it does work. If it doesn't then there are some other steps to take but that is the best first step to take in determining the problem.

65C is a perfectly acceptable on-die temp in orthos or Prime95.

I can hit 70C for extended periods (24+ hours at a stretch) if my room gets warm while stress testing. The chip has been running without issue for over 6 months with no decrease in overclocking capability, or stability.

Still, that temp does seem high for a Tuniq cooler.

Could you not post with 9x340 ect. or you just wanted a balls out FSB ?
41C idle on you NB chipset I think is your problem under load it must skyrocket.
If it was me I would upgrade the NB chipset and BSEL it to default to nicer straps.
800 straps suck imho.
