SATA issue installing P35C DS3R

Thread Starter
I'm installing a P35C DS3R with a Samsung Spinpoint 320 in native mode, no jumpers.
Installed Windows XP, and everything went straight forward, except for one thing.
When I unplug and plug again the sata cable from the disk (with the computer off), it fails to boot as windows won't detect a system file.
I don't really understand how cold unpluging and cold plugging may affect anything.
Maybe I should update bios and start all over again, since the board came with a very old revision (f4).
If someone has a clue on whats happening to me, I apreciate any comment.
Thanks.

What is the reason you need to unplug it? F4 bios is old but would not cause this problem unless the bios is resetting (meaning not holding the configuration)

I was doing some wire management, and unplugged sata hard drive 2 times, and both times got the error after plugging it back.
It says \\windows\\system32\\config\\system is missing or damaged, and ask me to run the repair console.
It seems that it fixes it after a couple of bootings, as I didn't even had to use the repair console.
Now I updated bios to F10, maybe I would try again.
It's not that I need to unplug the hard drive all the time, but it's kind of annoying to think that if I ever need to do it, then I would have booting problems.
I did complete checkdisk, and no errors at all.
Also, the sata is running at ide channel 0 on bios. (not using AHCI).

Ya that's unusual. I take things apart all the time and never had a problem with the sata drives. Leave it plugged in for a day or two and see what happens. Also, fill in your system specs, helps us help you.
