Tekken anybody?

Does anyone, other than me, play tekken competitively. I'm thinking of going to EVO this year, and wondering if any overclockers would be there? Just thought i would ask as Tekken is the reason i bought my ps3 lol.

Me at Tekken.

Got Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection from the PS store. I like the game, but I always get my ass whooped. I don't see how people can memorize 100 different combos on multiple characters. It's all I can do to get by with Hwoarang (or however you spell it) and after months I still haven't mastered all his moves. And I still haven't mastered blocking. I miss the "blocking button" of Mortal Kombat. Much easier. How the hell do you block with this game? Only way I've figured out is to either not press any buttons and press back (left on D-pad) or just not press anything at all.

Maybe you can give me some tips?

Blocking in tekken is done the same way its done in Street fighter games u press away from your opponent for mid/high moves and diagonally away for low attacks. As far as Bob (Hwoarang) goes, he is NOT the best character to start out with as he has 2 different sets of moves one from right foot foward and one from Left foot foward. all of his launches are unsafe, except for d/f+2 and his B&B juggles are moderatly difficult. A couple of good starting characters are Feng and Paul the are the best punishers in the game each have a 12 frame punnisher that Knocks down on hit and does around 40 dmg each.

I love that game! Tekken and Gran Turismo was the two game I played on PS2. I got all my friends into that game and we always competed against each other.

I can be soo cheap with Paul

Man I haven't played Tekken for a good year now, I miss playing Dark Resurrection at the arcade. I probably won't be going to EVO but I think I will buy a PS3 just for this game. Gimme King, Julia, Kazuya, Lee, Devil Jin, or Christie (I actually know what to do with her not just button mash lol) and I'm ready to kick some ass haha.

It sucks that America is only getting a limited amount of Tekken 6 arcade machines, seems like arcade is just dieing. I think texas is the only place with one atm, all namco sponsered arcades got tekken 5 5.1 and DR I dont know why they wont do the same with 6 makes me mad as hell. Arcade is where i started loving fighting games.

I know what you mean Steveo if it wasnt for tekken or gran turismo i wouldnt have even bothered with a ps3.(MGS and FF are just added bonuses in my eyes)

Yeah Roddimus Tekken 6 comes out soon as well as soul calibur 4 and street fighter 4 its a good year for fighting games.

What are some good websites dedicated to Tekken so I can brush up on my strategies. I'm pretty bad because I haven't played in a while, but I do own almost all the Tekkens. Tekken Tag was the one I started with and really enjoyed the tag aspect.

Anyway, am I just wasting my time trying to master Paul, Yoshimitsu, and Steve? Steve is my favorite because his style is so different, being a boxer and all.

Me at Tekken.
I was going to go to EVO this year except that it doesn't seem like it will be as much fun this year. No Toyota sponsorship, no regional qualifiers, no Guilty Gear or original SSF2T (don't know how accurately HD Remix will play), no really hyped up money matches, no on site registration, etc.

I would say that I'm fairly good at Tekken 5 DR (not my main fighting game), though I only really play my school's arcade or local arcade. I main as Asuka and Devil Jin, but I enjoy playing as Marduk and Feng as well.

[Yar!] faCe, you play any other fighting games competitively?
