question regarding clock speeds

post #1 of 4
Thread Starter
So I just put this in my computer which has a core clock of 670 and mem clock of 1940. This may be a dumb question but when I launch gpuz or rivatuner it shows a core clock of 670 and memory clock of 972.

Shouldn't that memory clock be 1940 or is there something I am not understanding about memory clocks?

972x2=1944
ddr is Double Data Rate
post #3 of 4
that answers your question rivatuner is showing the "real" actual speed while it is "actually" 1940 effective. "double" data rate means 2x.
