8600GT Power Reqs

Thread Starter
Hey it's settled, ive had a look at the graphics cards i can get here in aus for under 180bucks. I found an Asus 8600GT 512MB DDR3 for $145 at a shop around the croner from my house. Would the Asus 8600GT 512MB DDr3 need a 6pin power connector - so far fro what ive seen on the net, mostly google lol, it doesnt have a input for it? So, im hoping that it wont and i can just run it straight off of my 550W ATX 17A on the +12v Rail? Will runing it off of my current PSU be a gamble?

17A? that's pretty little but it should run fine.

I have an 8600 with a c2d running on a good 380w antec earthwatts just fine.

it's time for an upgrade

8800GT uses 43W itself. With OC, it will be around 60W so a good 350W such as $30Antec earthwatts 380w should be fine.
