btw mines doesnt have the dvd player sata problem I actually have an hp dvdrom with lightscribe and a blu ray sony sata drive and no problems with either.
I heard some issues with not being able to use the burn feature of certain SATA DVD drives. However, the problem I'm experiencing is my optical SATA drives causing constant BSOD's. The issue has been recognized by eVGA and NVIDIA I believe. eVGA for sure because they stated that it was a chipset driver issue and put out new beta drivers for the chipset. Unfortunately for me, the beta is only for Windows XP (I think 32-bit only). I am currently running Vista. I tend to think it's more of a BIOS issue from my attempt to isolate the issue. Either way, I hope they put out a solution soon.
You can check out the evga forums for this issue and other issues such as FF codes. Personally, I haven't ran into the FF code issue, but the BSOD issue is driving me nuts. Or you can just Google "780i BSOD SATA optical" and you'll see some of the complaints.
