Which OC setting to keep?! - Page 3

I have to side with him, though, because I've heard so many people on here who have to reseat their heatsink because they either had too little TIM (Thermal Interface Material goo), or an uneven application of it. Either way, check it out. I had to reseat my Tuniq Tower 3 times. :/

Edit: I should've used Quote.

Yeah I was going to say, eh, they're Brisbane cores, it takes a bit to overheat them.

The Arctic Freezer 7 has its own thermal paste preapplied (Arctic silver so its not cheap stuff). I just placed it on, locked it down.
It could have to do with my ambient + how I had to attach it. But still, before I had this one, I had a rosewill cooler that had temps of >60 when gaming.

lol, and right there is your problem... you never leave the pre-applied stuff on man, and i can almost guarantee you it wasn't AS5 on there, AS5 isn't sticky and hard like pre-applied stuff is, its goopy and it stays goopy, so it wouldn't work for shipping

just order some AS5 or some of the crazy stuff CyberDruid is always using, and re-apply your paste, and your temps will drop by at least 5-10C i bet

Yeah, my jaw dropped when you said you went from what was it, 70 to like 45. Of course, I don't know my cpu's non-Tuniq-Tower temps....

I'm hoping to get one last answer from some of you guys:
If I am getting 58 degrees in the CPU test of ORTHOS and 48-50 in Prime95 and 45 in SuperPi, those are fine right?
I mean, how often am I gonna be stressing it as much as ORTHOS? Usually, during gaming, I will hit 50 but no higher. Would that be legitimate to keep the 3.0 Ghz setting.

Also, is it worth it to get some thermal grease. I read on newegg in the comments section for the Arctic Freezer 7 and some of the people were saying that the thermal compound on it is sufficient. How much do you think my temps would go down?

Thanks
