Whats your opinion on this machine.

Thread Starter
I am no Dell fan or computer n00b for that matter, but to me this seems like a REALLY good deal.

Such a good deal Im considering getting it, as I am in the market for a new PC. I was contemplating waiting for Nahalem and the GT200 cards but this seems like a great deal. 8800 GT and all!

Edit: Only costs $100 for an extra 2 GBs of RAM too.

Looks pretty good.. but they did not specify what kind of motherboard it is including. It's probable that they will give you some lame OEM mobo with a locked bios, a common thing among huge brand name computer retailers. So that may mean NO OVERCLOCKING!@!@!!1!@!##$ and they may give you a B3 revision instead of G0.

You can build it for 700ish including the software and name brand/better components

q6600 $200-250
2 gigs 800 mhz as low as $35 (probably the cheap stuff is what they're using)
320 gig sata $60 (probably not a aaks or 7200.10)
20x dvdrw $25
8800 gt 512 $200
p35 $60ish
XP Pro OEM $99 (or vista pro oem)

No pre-built is a good deal. Ever.

I change my opinion, I agree with Cravin. It's not worth it even with a drop of $460. You can build a better rig with that amount of money.

"Sure, he might be able to build it for around the same price, but will his build come with the 'Dell Network Assistant 1.7'? I don't think so!"

"If you don't build computers, this is a decent deal. More then decent. You won't find a better deal at Best Buy, that's for sure!"

Lol, off-topic but why do you write like that in all the posts that I've seen you post.

Anyways, it's obviously a much, much better deal then you might get at futureshop or bestbuy. But considering hes no noob he's better off building his own.

I think Gillos' style is kinda funny.

If your on this site you should be some sort of enthusiast, even if your just learning or an experienced builder. The common person who buys a computer probably just buys it for basic needs and never cares about whats inside. The people on forums like these either try to get the best they can afford or are really into this sort of thing.

It seems as if people who post these questions already know the answer but are hoping that the forum will side with them and give them the approval to purchase a pre-built system. They know that everyone is going to say build it your self, but they still ask the question. They just want some re-assurance, but will most likely never get it with the exception of a select few.

If this sounds like nonsense I'm a bit drunk....
