Depends on the headphone. If you've got the cash, want bass and an open-design, then get a Sennheiser HD650 for a little over $200 used @ www.head-fi.org. Combine it with a Darkvoice 332, 336, or Gilmore Lite for under $400. You'll still have $200 left for the Prelude.

There are still many other alternatives; this is just what I could come up with off the top of my head.

Soundstage + Bass on that is perfect for gaming, the drivers are all compatible, and you will have plenty to spend on a nice quality amp.
Also a very good choice, I would say these are recommended for gaming more then the 650's, and many gamers on the forum have these or the A700/AD700's.

haha that's quite the dive into audiphilia of the bat! i'd agree on the 336, and as much as I hate open back, I'd say the HD650's because of gaming and soundstage.

======

How much do you want to spend on the amp? Do you want it to be portable so you can take your amp in your car/backpack? Or do you wanna leave it an home and get more outta a tube amp?

I enjoy my AuzTech Prelude.

There are also other options though, such as the Juli@, which I'm looking into for a Carputer audio setup.
