COD4 blur from grenades and explosions

Thread Starter
I just built a new rig and i loaded COD4 , during gameplay grenades and other explosions cause a shifting image on my display. I play on my old rig (Sandy 3700,2Gig ram and 7600GT)and i don't get any of this effect. I have the Nvidea 169.21 driver and have tried antialising off and antrotropic filtering off and other setting to no avail. I'm sure it's something simple i'm missing, any suggestions would be great.

The command is r_distortion 1 to enable the " shifting image effect "

Thank you , that did help but i'm still getting this problem. It looks almost like those fun house mirror's you would find at a carnival. Kind of like the image gets wavy rather than distorted.

Got a screenshot? Because some of those wavy effects may be heat radiating out of somewhere...

That command should fully enable it, I think you may have to turn your specular map detail up to see distortions full effects.

Maybe your just in awe at the 8800's graphical capabilities.
