Should I Ubuntu my laptop?

Thread Starter
I got a free laptop that doesn't hold a charge (still works fine though) its a sony vaio and its about a year old.

I ordered 2 free ubuntu discs for the hell of it and one is 64bit and the other is 32bit. The laptop has xp right now and runs pretty good.

I just got the Ubuntu discs today and I'm tempted to install it on the laptop and wipe out xp on the laptop.

Do you think I should?

Will it work on a sony vaio?

What will I do about drivers?

No keep windows, there is really no point not to.

If you really want to tinker with Ubuntu then dual boot.

Try dreamlinux, Its quite pretty, and based of debian/ubuntu, but dosen't take much extra configuring.

He already has a gaming system, why wouldn't he wanna install Ubuntu on the laptop?

Boot from the CD and see if everything works OK. Then make a decision.
