Worth it to lap a Zalman 9700nt?

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I'm thinking about lapping my Q6600, and was wondering if it would be worth it to lap my Zalman 9700NT HSF at the same time? I heard that it may not be needed as the surface is already even, however I wanted additional opinions.

Thanks!

wut? i have a zalman 9700 led and it has a mirror finish on it! I would think the nt is the same... no lapping necessary.

The Zalman surfaces I've used have always been pretty nice. If you check it with a razor blade, and it needs it, then do it.

I'm under the belief, that if it doesn't need it, then don't... Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I just lapped my 9500 LED, and lowered temp by 5-6
mine was not finished very well when I checked it,,
IMO, I don't think it's worth lapping CPU cuz it will void your warranty,
If you're not using ES like me, don't...

Most of the Zalman's I have seen have a mirror finish but a mirror finish doesn't mean a flat base. If it's too concave, I would lap it.
