What can I do?

post #1 of 43

I have always let nTune do my over clocking but I don't beleave it is pushing my system as far as it can go. With the listed system specs I have how far do you think I can go with this system?

I do not use nTune anymore.. it is all bio's.. Now I just need a bit of help tweaking.

Its always better and more stable to oc through the bios, so start reading up on how best to do that. http://www.overclock.net/amd-general...ocket-am2.html
Your chip should reach 2.7-2.8 depending on different conditions. Good luck

I am using a custom case for cooling, It moves about 440CFM of air over the system. Keeping it at room temp of about 78F-84F

...don't use the nTune auto-overclocking tool. It's pretty bad. In fact, nTune is bad. Do yourself a favor and uninstall it.
Once again...

noted... and done... I have looked over my bio's and have only found a few things I am able to change to tweak my system...

CPU Frequency
>100 ~ 500
PCIE Clock(SB) MHz
>100Mhz ~ 200Mhz
NB<->SB Reference Clock
>200 ~ 500
PCIE Clock(NB) Mhz
>100Mhz ~ 200Mhz
CPU Clock Ratio
>x5 ~ x11
Robust Graphics Booster
>Auto, Fast, Turbo
DDR2 OverVoltage Control
>+0.1V ~ +0.7V
S-Chipset/PCIE Voltage
>+0.1V ~ +0.3V
CPU HT-Link Voltage
>+0.1V ~ +0.3V
HT-Link Voltage
>+0.1 ~ +0.3V
N-Chipset/PCIE Voltage
>+0.1V ~ +0.3V
CPU Voltage Control
>0.800 ~ 1.550V

I have read the overclocking guide and can not find an area to change Memory Timings or Settings in the bio's... But, I do have software that allows me to change all my timings.. is this okay?

SentrySkills, when your in the BIOS hit CTRL+F1. That should display the "Advanced Features" menu option. That menu option might allow you to make adjustments to the memory.

Let us know

Good luck

Thank you, I have found a new menu with a few more things to change.

K8<->NB HT Speed
1x ~ 5x
NB-->SB HT Speed
1x ~ 5x
NB<--SB HT Speed
1x ~ 5x
K8<->NB HT Width
Up 16 / Down 16, Up 8 / Down 8
NB<->SB HT Width
Up 16 / Down 16, Up 8 / Down 8, Up 4 / Down 4

DRAM Config
tCL - 3~6 @ 5
tRCD - 3~6 @ 5
tRP - 3~6 @ 5
tRAS - 5~18 @ 18
CMD - 1~2 @ 2
tRRD - 2~5 @3
AsyncLat - 1ns~15ns @ 5ns
tRC - 11~26 @ 23
tWR - 3~6 @ 6
tRWT - 2~9 @ 4
tWRT - 1~3 @ 3
tREF 3.9 us, 7.8 us @ 3.9 us

Memory Clock
400,533,667,800

Now, with Isolating the Motherboard, I need to significantly underclock my Memory and CPU?.. before I start pushing my "NB<->SB Reference Clock"? That would be the correct thing to starting increasing?

Sorry.. I am a n00b to this, I don't want to break it "yet"

Sentry, that is the process you would use to find the maximum limits of each component. I always recommend doing that first so you can get a baseline. I believe the guide that jaclipse posted explains that. Here is another guide that I'd suggest going over for that process: http://www.overclock.net/faqs/31782-...pu-memory.html

Good luck

When I need to drop my "HT multiplier" do I need to change all of these settings? for just the top "K8<->NB HT Speed"

K8<->NB HT Speed
1x ~ 5x
NB-->SB HT Speed
1x ~ 5x
NB<--SB HT Speed
1x ~ 5x

they are all at 5x right now.
