I honestly don't know a whole lot about dB'ing. It was only done once in the store to show me what my system was doing. All I know is that it freaking POUNDED, and that meter said 160. something. It might not have been a "legal" metering, I don't know. I'm just relaying what it said.

If it sounded good, then that's all that matters. 160 is a hard number to achieve.

not sure if this brand has been suggested but, Soundstream makes really really good amps. s/n ratio 95+ ; dampening (very important) at 200+
I have a Picasso model pushing a triangular bazooka in the tri-port enclosure (not sure if they make it anymore) and it sounds great. but it's probably not the best sub for saving space.
i listen to similar music. house/trance/DnB/dubstep/industrial/some rap. . .

i have 2 10" jl's and they hit hard. all my neighbors can hear them. fun to set off car alarms too.
rockford fosgate amp
alpine head unit
Infinity kappas in the dash and doors with infinity tweeters custom placed in doors.

DONT LISTEN TO PEOPLE AND GET A PORTED BOX! thats for competition and have people stare. if you want true crisp sound qaulity ( which trance and other music needs, the quick reflexes) then GO WITH A SEALED BOX. i swear by it

if your getting a high power system make sure you get a new substantial battery( the more the merrier) and 1+ capacitors.

also, be ready for your car to start falling apart and rattling from bass ahah

I have 2 12" JL W6v2 with 1000/1 JL Amp in a custom built ported box, and I think it is better than a sealed box because I have been through about 7 different boxes and 3 different subwoofer setups.

If you like to "feel" your music then you need to go ported.. if you only want to somewhat "feel" it and more of "hear" it.. then you go sealed, but I mean I have my bass turned low and I can blast my music and feel the rumble while making out all of the words crisp and clear.... I also replaced my front door speakers though.

That's where you're wrong. I HATE when people say sealed boxes are cleaner and tighter and this and that blah blah blah. It ain't the truth. A properly tuned box will be just as tight as a sealed box, but put out more db and be just as clean. Those pre-fab ported boxes are junk.
