ASUS Maximus X38 or GA-EX38-DQ6?

Well i've been an ASUS guy for as long as i've been building computers but, with a build for someone coming up, I think I might just jump the fence and see if the grass is greener. After doing a bit of research, it came down to the DQ6. Many of you on OCN have them and love them. They are both X38 so in that respect, they don't differ to much. I also read reviews of them by trusted sites and, they too, loved them for their unique and solid Bios (can't say the same for the Maximus but I haven't really tried to tinker with it that much), great overclockability, and, one of my favorite features, upward facing SATA ports...gosh do I hate the downwards facing ports on my Maximus...they don't play nicely with my case at all.
I'm a bit leery on switching from a trusty brand, but what can you, who have and have used the DQ6, tell me to lure me over to the other side?

I plan on Xfiring and will only be doing a moderate over clock on a Q9300 (I think) which will require, a lot of FSB because of the low 7.5 multiplier. I'm not extremely knowledgeable enough to know or care about every little feature on the board so don't bother listing them. Rep to those with good info and opinions. Thanks guys. ~ocjj

I feel your pain. I was in the same boat a few months ago. Asus makes some pretty good MB's but they are expensive. The premium you pay for them is not really justified because there are other VERY good mb's on the market.

With that said, both of these are good boards. The X38 chipset is overclocking solidly to 475 FSB pretty consistently. Above 475 you might be pushing the limit for 24/7 stability. I like the look of the NB cooler on the DQ6 which is why I would want it above all the other X38 boards out there but DFI, ABit, Gigabyte and Asus make very good X38 boards.
