World in Conflict- buggy?

Thread Starter
i bought WIC last week and for some reason it just doesn't work right. every 5 min of playing, the video freezes, i alt+tab out, ten back in, and it says "World in Conflict is reloading resources, please wait" and then goes fine for a few min. till i have to do it again. anybody know what's up?

EDIT: i have the latest WHQL drivers from nvidia and WIC is updated, according to the auto-updater

yeah, but i have no idea what settings might be causing this
post #4 of 11
i remember when it came out, i had a very difficult time playing the game for more than 20 minutes straight, sometimes less than that.

maybe the auto-updater missed a patch, see what version you have, and search patch sites like fileplanet.com and see what they have.

ive got the newest patch, and that runs fine for me... it usually messes up if i skip the video's in single player when im playing through that.

other than that don't have any problems, nor did i have problems on the unpatched game. therefore, you should try changing your video drivers, or maybe try a fresh install and patch it straight to 1.07... either that or try it unpatched.

also, that can sometimes be caused by setting the graphics settings too high, as it basically has to stop and load the map up while you are playing it.

You shouldn't have any problems, I love this game.

I can't think of anything that would cause that and know many people running it on rigs worse than yours. Not to mention I know many with the 8800GT and none have issues besides the wonderful Display Driver Stopped responding. But your in XP so that shouldn't be a problem.

Have you tried a uninstall and re-install? I know it's a PITA but you shouldn't have any issues with this game, WiC is actually one of the better produced game. Massive backs it very well and listens to the community about issues.

Are you having problems in single or multi player?

Watch your hard drive light. I have the same thing it's just mega uber loading play it for 10 minutes with hardcore hard drive rape and it should go over smooth again.
