French publisher Ubisoft has revealed that it is latest publisher to make its PC titles available via Valve's digital distribution platform Steam, with the upcoming PC release of Assassin's Creed: Director's Cut Edition currently available for pre-purchase.

The stealth title Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell and Crytek's non-linear shooter Far Cry mark Ubisoft's initial offerings, with Far Cry priced at $9.95 and Splinter Cell going for $19.95. Both will sell at a 10% discount until April 8.

Over 40 titles will be eventually be available, including Tom Clancy games, the Heroes of Might & Magic series, the IL-2 Sturmovik collection and more, along with upcoming releases such as Far Cry 2. According to Valve, bundles packaging franchise entries together will be available in the coming weeks.

"Ubisoft will be delivering the largest library of titles available from any single publisher or developer to Steam," said Valve business development director Jason Holtman, director of business development at Valve.

"We look forward to working with Steam and continuing to strengthen our commitment to the PC gaming community with innovative products and wider distribution channels, added Ubisoft senior sales director Andy Swanson.

My only beef with steam/valve is that I can't sell my games when I get tired of them.

I bought the Orange Box retail in stores. Since it's linked to my Steam account, I can't technically sell the discs. That's BS. If I don't want the game anymore, I should be able to sell it.

Valve/Steam have lost my business.

Wasn't dying to begin with.

This is decent news. Although, I never really cared much for Ubisoft, or the crap that comes out of that company. Far Cry 2 looks good, but I am not holding my breath for it.

So a company who produces a game of 8 hours repetitiveness that we have already seen in plenty of other games before, wins your heart, over a company who produces games and sells it for a fair price, that actually changes the idea of FPS and stories where others do not? OK, your preference.

I agree about the fact that you should be able to sell your games.... it really wouldnt be hard to do... just make it so that you can transfer games to other accounts....

You do realize that it is just a smart business strategy. You selling the disc to someone doesn't give them any royalties or any money whatsoever, their possible future business with them notwithstanding.

If you are intent on "giving" the game away as a "donation" once you are done with the game, you could always put each game on different ID's. It only takes a few mins to set up a new account each time.

When the time comes and you won't be playing it anymore, you can be chartible and "give" away the account that has that specific game on it. If they want to "donate" some money for your charitable action then you can kindly accept.

It says in the EULA you can't sell accounts, should have read it and returned the game if you didn't agree with it. Your own fault. Don't blame Valve. I really dont think you not buying anything from Valve his going to affect them at all. They still have over 15 million customers.
