Swiftech Rad Vs. Thermaltake Rad

post #1 of 10
Thread Starter
Getting new mobo in tomorrow and redoing wc'ing. I have the MCR220 Rad and the Thermaltake 120x2 Rad that came w/ the Big Water 745 i used to use. http://www.thermaltake.com/product/L...6/cl-w0076.asp
So i was wondering which one should I use. Sound is not a factor just temps. I have 2x110CFM pushing and 2x80CFM fans pulling on whichever Rad I choose. I have E6750 (3.7ghx) & 8600GT (overclocked) in the loop so there is a good deal of heatdump. What do you think.

P.S. Thanks guys for putting up with me. Im doing a new build and although i have a good deal of experience im always a double checker. I try to answer other peoples questions but you always beat me to it (;

"all that nice stuff" = galvanic corrosion with aluminum. aluminum is one of the worst things to introduce into your loop.

Any amount of aluminum will cause corrosion. The degree of corrosion depends on the amount of aluminum. Best to keep your loop free and clear of aluminum if you intend on using copper. There's no harm in running an all-aluminum loop. There's no harm in running an all copper loop, either. Just don't mix the two.

QFT. You should get that aluminum out ASAP, even a small amount in a block is enough to destroy your loop.

The radiators that thermaltake uses are oil cooler style; they've never been preferred regarding watercooling. It's a complete mystery why thermaltake uses them.
