In 20 years or so, there will be no need for a lot of separately functioning (and incompatible) units floating around the house. It will all be standardized to "computers", via a centralized unit or separate units that are very similar. TV signals, internet, "telephone", will all be routed through a single line (as they are even now in a lot of places). A form of HTPC's WILL be the TV and movie provider. Games will just follow suit. When everything is standardized, costs are reduced and productivity goes up.
I don't like using my computer for everything. I like standalone DVD/BRD players, for example. I don't want to use a playstation 3 or a computer to view movies.

That's my personal preference.

I realized that. I just happened to notice it was m$ you were backing (again). Of course, nothing wrong with that.

Nintendo make up a large portion of the console market. provided that they keep on track with unique innovative ways of gaming (and NOT making media hubs...PS3...360) i don't see this happening anytime soon.
No, The Wii is a gimmick, I bet in 2010, The Wii's sales will fall heaps as everyone moves to the next fad.

In 10 years, console gaming will be huge, and PC gaming will be tiny.

As much as I love PC gaming, it's going to happen.

The increasing difficulty and costs of developing PC games combined with piracy and the time and money needed years after release means it is no longer such a high profit market.

I can however see the rise of smaller development companies making niche market games.

Within 10 Years anything can happen. There is no point in debating yet really lol. and in any case the world ends in 2013 so we have nothing to worry about.

This is heaven if you are a PC gamer like I am. But in reality its doesn't work this way and in business opportunity. Just have a look at how much GOW sold on the console compared to PC? Although it was a horrible port to the PC it did horrible on the PC. Another example is when Chris Taylor ported an RTS game onto a console I mean come on. I haven't had any problems with playing various types of genres on the PC. I don't know why people complain when they are playing third person shooter or even racing games on a PC, its great its even better than a console. I have played with my cousin and I get frustrated playing games on consoles.

Its not going to be Console which are going to die but its going to the PC. Just compare how many consoles games have been released since the xbox360/ps3 launch at opposed to PC .

Not every developing company has indefinite supply of money. PC game engines can really be pushed but the organisation needs to have adequate supply of both funds and resources;now whether thats a cost effective or viable option depends on the developer.

Its seems that companies are after one and I don't really blame them its whats there are in business for in the first place. Its not just games which are getting effected by this;just look at the music charts its too commercialized.
