Good 2.0 system for under $150

post #1 of 24
Thread Starter
So I need new speakers for my desktop, I would like to spend about $150 or so. I was looking at the M-Audio Studiophile AV 40, the DX4, and the Samson Resolv 40a. I was also thinking about the Samson Resolv 50a, but that's slightly out of my price range. What do you guys think I should get? Is there anything missing from the list that I should be considering about?

T-Amp: http://www.si5.com/products.php?pID=4046

Insignia Bookshelf Spkrs: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1138085354138

Google for reviews. An inexpensive combo that punches way above it's weight.

I was thinking about doing a setup like that, but I decided against that because I didn't want to see a T amp sitting on top of my PC. Though the speakers are great, I wonder if I can replace the satellites on my Z-5500 with them.

So I finally picked up a pair of the insignia ns-b2111, and they are sitting in my living room burning in now. I figured I'll also pick up a Dayton 10 inch sub. So now I don't know if I should get the Sonic Impact T amp or a DAC like the E-Mu 0404 usb.

The set up will be

PC -> T amp / DAC -> Sub -> Speaker

Suggestions?

Please please please please please do not purchase ANYTHING made by insignia

I worked at bestbuy last year and every single day at least 10 + insignia products were returned.. they are not made well and do not last.

That's a little bit of an exaggeration but still.. the name insignia just makes me queazy

Their speakers' quality is merely mediocre, and mine is starting to break... I would not purchase again.

I recommend Logitech systems. I can't remember the model, but I remember they had a few 2.1 systems that sounded great. I saw them at Target. Next to the Bose 2.1 system they sounded not as good, but they sounded better than everything else there (Altec Lansing and a few others.)
