Q6600 with ASUS P5N-D (Now including Windows xp x64 booting problem!)

Hello,

First timer here, I've seen all the threads with q6600 being overclocked but none with my specific motherboard. I've read the intel guide and all but I'd rather take it slow here as I have no experience in this field and obviously you void the warranty when OCing

All my specs are listed under my system, one of the questions I was going to ask is, is my PSU enough(600W)? I have SLI enabled and obviously this is a quad core so I don't exactly want to run out of power.

Any and all tips are helpful, I have CPU-Z and OCCT installed.

I also boosted my graphics cards to the specs below considering this was relatively easy.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: My CPU is at 26°C but I had the ZALMAN Fan turned down some because i was afraid of condensation, turning it up all the way right now.

hi, is almost the same in all borads (cept for intel brand ones) , start raising the FSB, do tests (Prime95, Orthos) , raise again, untill test fail, then incremebt vcore by a notch, then again...depends on ur VID is the high u can go, because it will be so hot, keep the vcore below 1.45, and temps 65c max.

A friend of mine told me to light up on the Heatsink/fan some but yeah, I didn't think it would really be that much of a problem.

Going to try raising the FSB though and stress testing, thanks.

When bumping the FSB up, No Affinity said in the guide that I should do it in about tens, since it is around 1066 I'm assuming I should bump it to 1076 and do an hour long test? That only raises it .02ghz so I'm assuming this is going to take a very long time to stress test all the way to 3.0 Ghz

Confirmation on this?

try setting your HT to 1.5v, SB & NB to 1.42 and offcourse Vcore to 1.36v this should get you up to atleast 3.2ghz like me

and if you are running SLI i think it is a little to small with 600w! I would say 750w to be sure, but some people may disagree on this..

Thank you so much for the voltage settings, I've been shooting in the dark

The "NB PCIE Frequency" Should I mess wit that at all? I hope I can at least do 3.0 on this with 600W I Saw that 10acjed has 500w and he has it at 3.2 with SLI so I'm hoping I'll be golden

Also I unlinked my ram and set it at 800 Mhz as I'm trying to focus on the CPU

good good pcie should you leave at stock.. if you do put this up you may fry your videocards the ram you can fix later you can set your FSB to 1425 and maybe try to set HT to 1.6v, SB & NB to 1.5v if you cant make it to 3.2ghz! but dont try to set your vcore more than 1.36! that may fry your cpu! so always remember that^^
