Help me on decision making

well i bought an xfx 8800GT alpha dog but i got the version where xfx skimped and put a none variable speed fan.....stuck at 100%
Choice 1: Return it to tigerdirect and get an EVGA or BFG
Choice 2: Buy a Duorb (but can the fan on the duorb be control even though the stock one cant?)
Choice 3: Or buy the Thermalright version (already have a fan blowing in that direction so really no need for another)
what would be the best way and if there are any better coolers sugest them
Thanks in advance

doesn't look like the duorb has a variable speed at all unfortunately, straight to a 4 pin. If I were you I'd look around the for sale section of the forum and see if you can find a used one for a bit cheaper than $55. I haven't used either so I can't speak from experience but seems as if the the thermalright would be the better performer.

100% power is a bad thing? 8800's must get noisy at full chug...my X800 just overheats when I don't crank dat fan speed

Try Rivatuner or ATI-tool. They both have fan speed controls in them, and if the fan uses a 4-pin or 3-pin connection, therefore having a tach lead, the RPM CAN be varied.
